estimated date of writing: around August 2022. possibly finished it on April 2023.
project associated with it: i kind of don’t have any songs similar to it, so I don’t know.
link to listen to it: soon.
[Chorus]
Lay where she lays
Lay, will you lay where she lays?
[Verse 1]
Gift of mourning, bedtime story
Where her eyes
Will meet mine
Once again
Now, tread slowly
Don’t you worry
I have scars
I rather mend
[Chorus]
Now lay where she lays
Lay, will you lay where she lays?
[Verse 2]
Seabed’s lovely, but so boring
And her scent
You’d repent
In amens
It’s not a warning
Don’t be sorry
I love your mind
I can’t pretend
[Bridge]
It’s a hole made for me
And if two equals three
I can tell just to talk is not enough
You can see right through me
And you sleep like she sleeps
And your words haunting me just as worse
[Outro]
Is it far? Is it soon?
Is there, after the dark side, a moon?
In your eyes, white balloons
In your tongue there’s a view to my room
About the song: I wanted to write a song about letting a person inside your life while another one hasn’t completely left yet, and the conflict about sharing your mind like this. The song is in the perspective of a relationship, I guess, but I wrote it thinking a bit about the life after the death of my mom, and having to lay on her bed to sleep since it became my bed then. It’s not 100% that, though. It was inspired by “Lay, Lady, Lay” by the man Robert Zimmerman and also “Tuff Ghost” by The Unicorns (You can see right through me (…) Your words haunting me just as worse).
