It’s official now. Since I’m starting to develop my three Substacks about arts and life, this site will have three different sites in it. Keep reading to know all the different changes.

Bilingual Site

Now most of the texts published on this site (as of now, ‘cause my god) will be in two languages, Portuguese and English. I say most because honestly it’s a very draining and unrewarding effort, since most of my readers speak in english. But the more I become comfortable writing in portuguese the more the site needs its own space for people from both languages, with the possible flood of written-first-in-portuguese texts I’ll write.

About

I rewrote the About page. In there, you’ll find all the information about the three different sites.

Also, in the spirit of the site being bilingual now, I wrote an About page in portuguese, that also hovers above every place in the site. I named it “Sobre” even though it sounds weird because it also felt funny. Also, you’ll notice that the Sobre page is a tad bit different from the About page. Sadly, it was like impossible to make both of them, so I just had to improvise the second time. More on that in the “Categories” part.

Front Page

I redesigned the site’s front page. Now, instead of leading you to different categories of things I write for the-thief, it has all the different publications of the site (the-thief, Close Up and Nightporter). I decided to leave Songs in there for a while since it kind of doesn’t have its own publication, but soon enough I will probably have to decide whether I delete the existence of that category entirely, along with its posts, or not.

Instead of a simple “recent posts” block — which I always thought it was a bit ugly — now I put two different options for you to browse the recent posts in english and in portuguese. It is possible that if you browse for long enough you’ll find the “thediary” posts, which are my old journal entries I would put in here (that I also hid from the old recent posts block). I’ll probably delete them soon since I have a different way of keeping a journal now, so you can read them now if you want.

Paid Subscriptions

Now you can support the site by being a paid subscriber! I think it’s two dollars per month. You can always donate to the ko-fi also if you feel like it!

Categories

I remade the template for a few categories, and by that I mean the page you open when you click the texts on the different images on the site, like “English”, “Portuguese” or “Nightporter”. This was the biggest and most excruciating change, because it took me forever to figure out how to do it the way I wanted it too since this site’s theme blocks a lot of what you can do to edit it. But alas, I think it is exactly how I always wanted it to be. It’s very pretty now, imo.
